Torres Continues To Struggle

The career of Fernando Torres suffered a huge blow since the moment he left Liverpool and joined Chelsea as the Spanish striker has struggled trying to score goals in Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea paid €50 million for Torres as they lured him away from Liverpool and during his debut season with his new club, he made 14 league appearances but only managed to score on 1 occasion.

Torres has already spent 4 seasons as a Chelsea player but has failed to score more than 8 league goals in a single campaign but even with his recent struggles, the former Liverpool star was named in Vicente del Bosque’s list of players that will represent Spain at the World Cup and he is delighted about being given this opportunity.

‘’It’s very nice to be back with the national team. I’ve gone a year without being with La Roja, since the Confederations Cup. I knew that anything could happen. I was only hoping to hear my name. I knew that I could’ve been here or not, but now I have a better chance of being in Brazil. It’s been a difficult year but I finished the season very well’’.

I’m grateful for the words of Vicente, who has valued my performances in the final phases. On a personal level, it’s been the same. But to be here with Spain is a great prize. I’ve played less minutes than in other seasons and, maybe, that could be good to be better physically. I feel very good. I’m happy and looking forward to getting started’’. Fernando Torres stated.

Torres will be joined by Diego Costa, Silva, Iniesta and Xavi as those will be the main attacking players of Vicente del Bosque and the Spanish squad.
