Spain Keep Heads Up In Defeat

Spain’s disastrous journey in the 2014 World Cup saw them being unable on advancing any further than the group stages as the team of Vicente del Bosque suffered a shocking defeat against Chile while Netherlands managed to blast 5 goals past Iker Casillas.

Fernando Torres was featured on all the matches of their group stages campaign but failed on making any kind of impact with the Spanish squad as the only victory that Spain that managed on claiming was against Australia and it was the sole match that the Chelsea player did not appear.

The former star of Liverpool announced to the media that the Spanish squad will be able to bounce back from their recent disappointing campaign and that every generation of players reach their end sooner or later.

“Any analysis carried out without letting a few days go by would be a mistake. We will listen to many different opinions, but I assure you that the group is hungry and hurt. We will bounce back even stronger because the players coming through are winners and I hope that many players who are in this World Cup will be able to carry on over the next years. This era had to end at one time or another. You can’t win forever. Luckily, we can now look back and see what we have achieved over the last years. Before, when we were knocked out, there was nothing to look back on. Now we have a World Cup and two European Championships won by this group of players” Torres said.

The Spanish squad has a series of veteran players such as: Iker Casillas, Pepe Reina, Xavi Hernandez, Andres Iniesta and Xabi Alonso some of those performers have already been retired from playing in the international stage and the new generation of players are expected to step it up and lead the way for the years to come.
