Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard has waded into arguments about who was the better striker between Luis Suarez and Steven Gerrard whilst both players were at Anfield.
Gerrard says that Uruguay international Suarez had more impact than Torres.
“Torres and Suarez were the two strikers I loved setting up. Both different and both unplayable. Suarez has more about his game and can do more than Torres. But they’re both deadly,” Gerrard said.
The Barcelona hitman moved to Anfield four days after the Spaniard agreed to move to Stamford Bridge in the winter window in 2011. Therefore, Suarez could not line up with the former Reds star. However, he went on to cement his name in the books of the club, scoring 69 goals in 110 Premier League appearances.
Torres has a similar impressive record while in the shirts of the Merseyside. He netted 65 goals in 102 Premier League matches but Gerrard preferred Suarez due to his wide offerings to the team.
Both players helped Liverpool go far but they did not eventually win the Premier League during their stay at the club.
Torres now features for Atletico Madrid as his years gradually winds down. No doubt, he has had an excellent career. Suarez still has a few more years in him as he continues to make exploits in Barcelona.
