Torres wants Liverpool to be Premier League champions

Fernando Torres wishes Liverpool and not Chelsea to go on to become the champions of the English top tier this season. Torres featured for Liverpool and Chelsea at the peak of his career from 2007 to 2015 and enjoyed a great time at the two clubs.

The Spaniard says that it gets very difficult for him whenever he is asked to pick one between these two clubs because he has got emotional attachment with both of them and he can’t pick one. That’s why when these two teams go head to head against each other in the Premiership or in any other competition, he prefers not watching the game because if he watches, he doesn’t know whom to support.

Fernando Torres Clears He Wants To Leave Atletico Madrid In The Summer

Atletico Madrid striker Fernando Torres will leave the club at the end of the season when his contract expires, the player has confirmed. The 34-year-old has only made three leagues beginning of this season and has scored two goals in 20 league shows for second-placed Atletico. This he did after signing a one-year extension contract around 12 months ago.

“This will be my last season at the club,” Torres told a press conference. “It has not been an easy decision and it has been difficult to make, but I feel obliged to tell the fans. You can see that my role has been very limited; I think it’s the right time to advertise it. My conscience is clear and I think I’ve given everything I could. My idea was to hang my boots up here.”

Morata Fights Off The Ghost Of Torres Against Leicester

Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata was able to fight off the ghost of Fernando Torres as the Blues cruised to victory against the Foxes at the Kings Power Stadium. The former Real Madrid man was yet to score any goal this year and his recent performances could pass for a regular performance by the struggling former Blues man Torres.

Many have hounded Coach Antonio Conte for releasing former striker Diego Costa, who was known for bullying opposition defenders. Morata has been quite the opposite, going down at the slightest challenge so much that referees rarely come to his aid, but rather they punish him for dissent.

Torres on Liverpool title chances

Former Liverpool striker Fernando Torres believes that Liverpool is on the right track and that they are edging closer to their first Premier League title.

Torres played for the Anfield side from 2007 to 2011 and said that this was an exciting moment of his career. He said that they come close to winning the Premier League in a couple of occasions and unfortunately could not make it to the end.

He said that he still follows the Liverpool team whenever he has time and that he feels that they are progressing well under Jurgen Klopp. He said that the German manager is an experienced manager and that he is the right person to bring the title back to Liverpool. You just have to see his enthusiasm on the touchline to know that he is someone that wants to win trophies and that he will bring this energy into the team.

Torres said that they have done quite well last season and that he feels that the team will get better this season. He said that they are still in the close seasons and that there is no doubt that the transfer committee is working on getting some new players in the side.

GERRARD – SUAREZ WAS BETTER THAN TORRES AT LIVERPOOL

Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard has waded into arguments about who was the better striker between Luis Suarez and Steven Gerrard whilst both players were at Anfield.

Gerrard says that Uruguay international Suarez had more impact than Torres.

“Torres and Suarez were the two strikers I loved setting up. Both different and both unplayable. Suarez has more about his game and can do more than Torres. But they’re both deadly,” Gerrard said.

The Barcelona hitman moved to Anfield four days after the Spaniard agreed to move to Stamford Bridge in the winter window in 2011. Therefore, Suarez could not line up with the former Reds star. However, he went on to cement his name in the books of the club, scoring 69 goals in 110 Premier League appearances.

TORRES – LIVERPOOL UNFAIR WITH ‘TRAITOR’ CLAIM

Fernando Torres believes his ex-club, Liverpool conveyed him as a “traitor” following his departure to Chelsea in 2011.

The world cup winner, who became the fans’ choice at Anfield after scoring 65 goals in 102 league appearances for the club, signed for Chelsea in January 2011 for a then-British transfer record of £50m.

Despite the fact that he enjoyed huge personal success in his first three seasons at Liverpool, Torres became worried at the path the club was touring as a potential takeover loomed and sought to have talks with managing director Christian Purslow in the summer of 2010.

Before his departure, he was curious to know if the financial position of the club would be able to survive. However, with some key players beginning to leave, and following the sale of Javier Mascherano to Barcelona soon afterwards, he was left quite frustrated.

Torres pleased with Atletico Madrid

Fernando Torres has stated that he is pleased with the way Atletico Madrid is playing at the moment.

He said that every player is doing their best on the pitch and he hopes that this good run will continue for as long as possible.

Atletico Madrid is unbeaten in both La Liga as well as the Champions League and Fernando Torres believes that this run will continue for quite some time. He said that it is a privilege for Atletico Madrid to be in this position and that he knows that Bayern will be a tough competitor. He said that the objective of Atletico Madrid is to finish top of their group and for that, it is important that they beat the smaller sides.

He said that Bayern would drop only a few points in their group and it is important that they remain consistent if they want to finish at the top of their group.

He said that it is imperative that they collect maximum points before facing Bayern in Germany as it will be a tough game there. He said that Atletico Madrid would want to build on their good run at the moment to make sure that they qualify before their final group game.

TORRES CONGRATULATES TEAM MATE ON HIS AWARD

Fernando Torres has congratulated his Atletico Madrid team mate Antoine Griezmann for winning the two top awards at the just concluded Euro 2016 tournament.

Griezmann was impressive at the tournament, leading his country France to the final before they lost to Portugal in the final few minutes of the second half of extra time football.

Griezmann won the Golden Boot, after scoring twice as much as any player at the tournament with his six goal tally. The 25-year old player entered the tournament somewhat exhausted after his busy season for his club where he played at the UEFA Champions League final aside being among the top scorers in the La Liga where they finished third behind Barcelona and Real Madrid.

The Los Colchoneros player was awarded the best player of the tournament by the UEFA technical committee after the mundial despite losing it as hosts. Torres took to his Instagram page to pass across his best wishes, having won the same award himself back in 2012 when he netted three times and when Spain lifted their second successive Euro title.

Fernando Torres states that the Champions League final is the biggest game of his life

Atletico Madrid striker Fernando Torres has said that the Champions League final will be the biggest game of his career.

For him, this is a dream that will come true as he has always wanted to win the biggest trophy in European football with Atletico Madrid.

Indeed, Torres started his career with Atletico Madrid after having gone through their entire youth system. He will explode on the European scene with them during the 2002-2003 season where he will score 13 goals in 29 appearances for them. From then on, he will go and establish himself as one of the best strikers in European football.

He will then go on and move to the Premier League where he will sign for Liverpool and then Chelsea. He will manage to win the Champions League with the London club in 2012, but his form will ultimately decline afterward because of an injury. His poor form will cause him to lose favor with Chelsea, and he will return to his childhood club, Atletico Madrid.

ALONSO: FERNANDO TORRES COULD PLAY IN EURO 2016

Bayern Munich midfielder Xabi Alonso claims if the Ex-Liverpool and Chelsea striker continues to play well he should be considered for Spain at the European Championship.

The Spanish international won European tournaments in 2008 and 2012 when he was in great form. Torres and Alonso were Liverpool teammates from 2007 to 2009 and won two European Championships and a World Cup together for Spain before Alonso’s international retirement in 2014. The striker has scored seven goals in his last 11 games.

“If he continues at this level, he will surely have the chance to play at Euros, although Vicente [Spain coach Del Bosque] has the last word

“I am happy to see him back to his best form and he looks very happy at Atletico,” Alonso said of the 32-year-old striker who has returned to his boyhood club on loan from AC Milan. “The fans love him and he is an idol there. He is also a great friend because of all the experiences we have lived together. But on the field we are not friends. He seems happy and well-loved, and I am glad for him. I hope he continues that way after this [semifinal] tie.

On his ninth Champions League semifinal, Alonso said:

“There are no such things as favourites in a Champions League semifinal.
