The future of Fernando Torres is covered in doubts

Fernando Torres is playing with Athletic Madrid on a loan deal that is close to reaching it’s end but there is a question that is surrounding the Spanish player and it’s in relation to what will happen with the 32 year old attacker after his time at the Vicente Calderon Stadium arrives.

Torres does not play a very influential role in Athletic Madrid as he is a player who has spent time on the sidelines of certain matches while there are other occasions where he gets playing time as a substitute.

The veteran player himself is not sure as to what will happen with him in the near future as he was asked about the possibility of having a contract renewal and Torres replied by saying: “Will there be a contract renewal for me at Athletic at the end of the season? That is not a question for me. There is nothing new about this matter. He said further that. My dream is to win a title with Athletic Madrid. I want to celebrate a title with this team. We have experienced very nice things, I started in Second Division and it would be a perfect moment for me.”

When the loan deal with Athletic Madrid expires, his time with Ac.Milan will also be reaching it’s end. The Italian club does have the option to keep hold of Fernando Torres for a longer period of time but considering his disappointing stint with Ac.Milan, it’s not likely that they will choose to extend the contract of Fernando Torres.

Tim Howard is confident that the club will be able to retain

Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard is confident that the club will be able to retain the best players at the club despite interest in several top names. Everton were on a spending spree last summer after bringing in the likes of Romelu Lukaku and Gareth Barry.

It looked like they were on a path towards improvement and potentially challenging for the top four places. However, a poor campaign ended up in Everton being without even the Europa league for the upcoming season. It appears to have cost them immensely in terms of prestige, as a number of top names are being linked with moves to other clubs.

James McCarthy, Kevin Mirallas, and John Stones all have been linked with moves away from Goodison Park. The latter is particularly attracting interest from Chelsea, who have made it £ 20 million offer for him. Even the Everton have rejected this bid, the Premier League champions are not expected to withdraw from their pursuit of their top transfer target. The chance to join a club like Chelsea – who will offer a lot of opportunities to win trophies – will be tough to turn down for Stones. Despite such interest, the 36-year-old goalkeeper says that Everton will retain their big names.

Atletico Madrid won an unlikely league title a few years ago

Atletico Madrid won an unlikely league title a few years ago and not many expect them to repeat the same feat again with the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid growing evermore stronger.

Atletico, though, have tried to prove this notion wrong by splashing out on several players in this transfer window. They have been one of the highest spenders in the summer after bringing in the likes of Jackson Martinez from Porto. The arrival of several new faces is likely to threaten the position of Fernando Torres in the team. The former Chelsea forward is on loan from AC Milan.

He is regarded as a legend at Atletico, but this is unlikely to help him in terms of first-team opportunities. Torres appears to be aware of it, and he claims that he will help Atletico in any way to help lift the league title once again. The 31-year-old forward is no longer at the prime of his career. He appears to have lost the bulk of his pace along with his finishing skills as well. A lifelong Atletico fan, he watched his team lift the league title. Torres appears to be keen on doing the same as a player. He has never won the la Liga title.

Fernando Torres liked the way the Chelsea supporters stood up

Fernando Torres liked the way the Chelsea supporters stood up and clapped for Steven Gerrard the other day when he was coming off the pitch having played his part in the match.

It was the last time Gerrard was making an appearance at Stamford Bridge.

Because of the Reds and the Blues being arch rivals, Gerrard has almost always been on the receiving end on his visits to Bridge and yesterday was no different either.

He was subject to some rude comments again, but, at the time he was taken off by his manager in the second half, each and every spectator present there showed a respectful gesture towards the playmaker.

According to Torres, it was wonderful to see the standing ovation being given to Gerrard as he deserves it.

The 31-year old wrote on a social networking site, “The legend being clapped off. What a gesture, so nice of Chelsea fans, privileged to have been a part of both the teams in the past.”

The gesture did not impress Gerrard himself though. He sounded a bit sarcastic of the fact that after ruthlessly bombarding him with abuses for a big part of the contest, the Blues fans opted to hand him a respectful ovation.

Fernando Torres managed to score 20 goals in 110 appearances

Fernando Torres managed to score 20 goals in 110 appearances during his time performing with Chelsea. This is a very underwhelming record for any forward and it’s even less impressive taking into consideration that the Spanish player arrived with to Stamford Bridge a price tag of €50 million.

However, even with this very disappointing record that Fernando Torres created in the team of Jose Mourinho, Torres revealed that his decision to leave Chelsea and join Ac.Milan was not a decision of the Portuguese manager.

Torres joined Ac.Milan in August of 2014 on a 2 year long loan deal and it was initially believed that this transfer was engineered by Jose Mourinho as he tried to kick-start the career of Torres and hopefully find the spark that he needed to start scoring goals on a consistent basis but it never happened as the Spanish player still struggled getting goals despite making a move to the Italian club, Ac.Milan.

The 31 year old player Spanish forward announced that this switch was a personal decision of his and it had nothing to do with Jose Mourinho or anything else.

‘’Mourinho has always been good to me. The decision to leave was a personal one because I needed more, I needed to feel important. Mourinho and I have a good relationship and still today we continue to talk to each other.’’ Fernando Torres said.

Diego Simeone happy with Performance of Torres

Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone says that he is extremely happy with the contribution of Fernando Torres in the recent 0-0 draw with Sevilla.

Torres came on as a substitute late on in the match, but he was unable to prevent Atletico Madrid from only getting a point from the match. This meant that they were unable to close the gap on Real Madrid, who also only drew the match. This is seen as a great opportunity to reduce the gap to the top of the table to only five points. Even though Atletico would have had to also contend with the threat from Barcelona, it would have been a strong position indeed.

As it is, Atletico are going through a mini crisis in terms of form after managing only two victories from the last five matches in all competitions. This includes defeats against Bayern Leverkusen and Celta de Vigo. The defeat against Leverkusen, though, will be especially damaging given that it is in the first leg of the Champions League.

The return leg will be at the Vicente Calderon and Simeone will make sure that his team are pumped up for this encounter. However, their failure to score an away goal puts them at a major risk.

Torres Tells That The Decision To Leave Chelsea Was His Own

It was revealed by AC Milan that the decision of Fernando Torres to leave Chelsea FC was personal and he did so as he wanted to feel more important.

Although this action is not very expected of a player who has remained one of the most feared strikers in football history but it was situation that led him to do so. Torress admits that he had considered joining Atlectico Madrid as he wanted to become the first choice of the team.

The result of his joining the team gave Atletico Madrid the recent success as they needed a striker of such caliber to take them to the level of ambition they had pictured for themselves. They couldn’t replace Diego Costa with Torres due to reasons relating to football and not sentimental. This is why they brought in Mario Mandzukic from Bayern. This is when Torres was left with the option to move to AC Milan, a club that was seeing tough times financially and was in need of a striker who could sell the goods but without a big transfer fee.

Fernando had commented on his decision where he left Chelsea to join Atletico Madrid was that the decision was a very personal one as he needed to feel more important and that him and Mourinho are still on friendly terms as they continue to talk to each other till date. He saw no real option to return and he didn’t like the fact that the people speculated. He also said that he didn’t go to Atletico because he wanted to retire as the today’s atletico is far different from what it has been in the past.

When Fernando Torres played for Atletico, they were only a team who had gained the promotion to Second division and were not contenders of the title. The club reached the top of the ladder under Diego Simeone and they became the contenders of the La Liga title. Even through the decision was Torres’ personal, it gained all the parties involved.

CHELSEA PROGRESS

Chelsea needed a late goal from Eden Hazard in order to progress into the last 16 stage of the Europa league. The 1-1 draw against Sparta Prague helped Chelsea move into the next round on aggregate victory.

However, all the talk after the match has been about the form of the striker Fernando Torres. The Spaniard has managed just one goal in his last 14 matches for the club. That solitary goal came in the match against League One opposition Brentford. However, the manager Rafa Benitez refused to criticise the 28-year-old by saying that he wants to look at the positive aspects.

CHELSEA THROUGH IN CUP

Chelsea has defeated Manchester United in a Capital One Cup match played at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday. Chelsea won the match by a close margin of 5-4 and knocked United out of the tournament. On Sunday, Chelsea was beaten by United in a Premier League match at the same venue. The Blues came into this match to take revenge and they succeeded in doing so.

At one point of time, Chelsea was trailed by 3-2 and there was only one minute left in the game. It seemed that Chelsea would have to suffer second consecutive defeat in two days, but, that wasn’t the case to be. Eden Hazard scored the leveller in the last minute of the injury time. The match was extended for the next half an hour.  Chelsea scored a couple of goals in the extra time, on the other hand, United managed to find the net only once in those extra 30 minutes.

Daniel Sturridge took Chelsea ahead by scoring a goal in the 7th minute of the extra time. This goal was a result of the poor effort from Wootton. He tried to head the ball back to Lindegaard, but, he couldn’t place the ball well. Sturridge got the ball and he sent the ball past Lindegaard with a wonderful angular shot.

United got deeper into trouble when Ramires scored the fifth goal for Chelsea just a few minutes before the end of the game. Hazard set up the goal and Ramires gave the finishing touch with a clean strike.

United got a penalty in the last minute of the extra time and Ryan Giggs converted that penalty to reduce the lead to 5-4, but, that was too late for United.

Chelsea’s next match will be a Premier League encounter against Swansea City on 3rd of November at the Liberty Stadium.
